Vacuum-gas plasma tissue culture treatment provides consistent cell attachment, spreading, and growth. The 353136 features a 75cm² growth area, 250mL total volume, canted neck for easy pipette access and secure stacking, and a vented screw cap with an integrated 0.2µm hydrophobic membrane for optimal gas exchange without contamination risk. Vacuum-Gas Plasma TC Treatment — Consistent, Reliable Cell Attachment Vacuum-gas plasma tissue culture treatment provides consistent cell attachment, spreading, and growth. The plasma treatment modifies the polystyrene surface to be hydrophilic and negatively charged — mimicking the natural extracellular environment and promoting attachment of anchorage-dependent cell lines. The uniformity of the plasma treatment process is tightly controlled, resulting in consistent performance lot-to-lot and flask-to-flask — critical for reproducible cell culture experiments and scale-up workflows.
Canted Neck Design — Easy Pipette Access and Secure Stacking The canted (angled) neck design of the 353136 serves two important functions. First, it allows the flask to be tilted at an angle during aspiration and media addition — giving clear pipette access to the growth surface without fully inverting the flask. Second, secure stacking provides stability from accidental tips or spills — the canted neck geometry interlocks with the base of the flask above it, creating stable stacks in the incubator and protecting against contamination from tipped flasks.
Vented Cap with 0.2µm Hydrophobic Membrane — Gas Exchange Without Contamination The 0.2µm hydrophobic membrane allows gas exchange while maintaining sterility. Hydrophobic membranes cannot be wetted out. The vented screw cap incorporates a 0.2µm microporous hydrophobic membrane filter that allows free exchange of CO&sub2; and O&sub2; between the flask and the incubator atmosphere — eliminating the need to loosen caps for gas exchange and removing the contamination risk that comes with the loosened-cap method. The hydrophobic membrane cannot be wetted by aqueous media, preventing liquid from being drawn through the filter under normal handling conditions.
Optically Clear Polystyrene — Direct Microscopic Observation Manufactured from optically clear virgin polystyrene for easy viewing of sample or cells. The clear polystyrene construction allows direct observation of cell morphology and confluency under an inverted microscope without removing the flask from the incubator — enabling routine monitoring with minimal disturbance to the culture.
Molded Volumetric Graduations and Writing Patch Feature molded graduations along both sides of flasks (20 to 100mL in 10mL increments, 100 to 275mL in 25mL increments). Dual-sided graduations allow accurate media volume assessment from either side. A frosted writing patch provides a surface for permanent marker labeling of cell line, passage number, date, and operator — essential for proper cell culture record-keeping.
Gamma Irradiation Sterile — Nonpyrogenic The Falcon 353136 is sterilized by gamma irradiation and is nonpyrogenic, tested to <0.1 EU/mL — meeting the sterility and endotoxin standards required for sensitive cell culture applications including primary cell culture, stem cell work, vaccine production, and viral vector manufacturing.
