The Hermle Z206-A is a compact, quiet, and highly versatile benchtop centrifuge designed for a broad range of clinical and research applications. The Z206-A Compact Centrifuge is suitable for a variety of applications inside both the clinical and research setting. Three angle rotor options are available permitting use with all common tube sizes from 0.2mL to 50mL. With a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm (4,427 xg), advanced microprocessor controls, automatic lid-lock, and imbalance detection, the Z206-A delivers Hermle's renowned German engineering quality in an 11 × 14.5 × 10.2 inch footprint. Rotor not included — sold separately. Available in 115V (Z206-A) configuration.

Advanced Microprocessor Controls — Ergonomic Single-Knob Operation The advanced microprocessor controls feature an ergonomic turn knob that controls all settings (time, speed, accel/decel levels, etc.). All pre-selected and actual values are permanently displayed on the large LCD display — giving the user a clear, continuous view of both set parameters and real-time run status without navigating through menus. The intuitive single-knob design minimizes the learning curve and makes programming fast for both experienced operators and new users.

Up to 6,000 rpm / 4,427 xg The speed can be adjusted from 200 rpm up to a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm (corresponding to 4,427 xg) in the popular 50mL and 15mL rotors. Speed is selectable in rpm or rcf, and adjustable acceleration and deceleration rates allow gentle handling of fragile samples including blood components, cell cultures, and protein solutions.

Three Angle Rotor Options — 0.2mL to 50mL Tube Compatibility Three fixed-angle rotor options are available for the Z206-A, covering every common tube format from 0.2mL PCR tubes all the way up to 50mL conical tubes — making the Z206-A a true workhorse centrifuge that eliminates the need for multiple instruments across different tube formats. The rotors are sold separately, allowing labs to configure the Z206-A precisely for their application.

Swing-Out Rotor Option for Clinical Applications A unique 6 × 5mL swing-out rotor is also available for clinical applications requiring horizontal separation within 5mL blood collection tubes. The horizontal swing-out format provides the flat-line separation preferred for coagulation studies, PPP preparation, serum separation, and urinalysis — making the Z206-A equally at home in a clinical laboratory as in a research setting.

Automatic Lid-Lock — Opens Only When Rotor Has Stopped The centrifuge lid features an automatic lid-lock that prevents it from being opened while the rotor is still in motion. The electronic lid lock is engaged at the start of every run and released only once the rotor has fully decelerated to a complete stop — preventing accidental exposure to a spinning rotor and protecting both operator and samples.

Imbalance Detection — Automatic Motor Shutdown A unique imbalance detection system is designed to automatically power down the motor in the event of improper loading of the rotor or any tube breakage. This critical safety feature protects against rotor damage and sample loss from unbalanced loads — particularly important in busy labs where multiple users may be operating the instrument.

Long-Timer Capability — Up to 99 Hours 59 Minutes The Z206-A timer runs from 20 seconds up to 99 hours and 59 minutes, plus a continuous run mode — accommodating both quick pulse spins and extended overnight centrifugation runs without operator intervention.

Compact, Quiet, and Cold Room Compatible At 11 × 14.5 × 10.2 inches and 29 lbs, the Z206-A is designed for benchtop use in space-limited labs. Its low noise level makes it suitable for open lab environments, and the unit is cold room compatible for temperature-sensitive applications.
