Suspension cells grow best with gentle, even mixing and good gas exchange, without contamination from a protruding stir shaft. These spinner flasks deliver both, using a magnetically driven impeller that keeps cells in suspension on a standard laboratory magnetic stirrer.
This listing is for Wheaton catalog number 356837: MAGNA FLEX Double Sidearm Spinner Flask, 3000 mL. Flasks are borosilicate glass 3.3 with two sidearms and a 1:1 headspace ratio. The adjustable paddle impeller does not pass through the cap, while bulb-shaped Magna-Flex impellers stir more gently. Flasks of 125 mL and larger have a bottom dimple to improve circulation. Jacketed versions take 0.25 inch ID tubing for temperature control, and complete units autoclave at 121 C. Replacement flasks, impellers, shafts and caps are offered.
