A true composite sample captures every layer of a drum, from surface film to bottom sediment. This glass Coliwasa (composite liquid waste sampler) collects a full column of liquid top to bottom from drums, tanks and reservoirs, so stratified wastes are represented accurately in the sample.

The sampler is borosilicate glass 5.1, 7/8 in in diameter and 42 in long, with a tapered bottom opening of about 1/2 in and a 200 mL sample capacity. Pressing lightly on the inner tube seats a liquid-tight PTFE seal that locks the sample in place and allows sampling to within 1/2 in of the drum bottom.
