Getting RNA out of fixed tissue on a slide often depends on a well-matched protease digestion. This Zymo Research buffer is used during Proteinase K treatment to release RNA from targeted samples mounted on glass slides, and it is the digestion reagent of the Pinpoint Slide RNA Isolation System II.

After the chosen tissue region is lifted from the slide, the sample is digested with Proteinase K in this buffer to break down proteins and free the RNA for subsequent extraction and Zymo-Spin column purification.
