Product Description
Working with a single mosquito, tick or fruit fly leaves little room for loss. This Zymo Research microprep kit is designed to pull total RNA, small RNAs included, from tiny insect and arthropod specimens while removing genomic DNA, so even minimal starting material yields RNA ready for RT-PCR.
This listing is for catalog number R2030: Quick-RNA Tissue/Insect MicroPrep Kit, 50 Preps. Specimens are homogenized with ultra-high density ZR BashingBeads in a robust lysis buffer. The lysate first passes through a Zymo-Spin IIIC Column for high-capacity DNA removal, and the flow-through is then bound to a Zymo-Spin IC Column. After washing, RNA is eluted in DNase/RNase-Free Water in a small volume suited to low-input work. Each kit supports 50 preparations. LIGHT LABS stocks the Zymo Research line, so kits, buffers and refills are always within reach.
Key Features
- Built for small specimens – microprep format suits individual insects and other arthropods.
- Bead-based homogenization – ultra-high density ZR BashingBeads disrupt exoskeleton and tissue efficiently.
- Integrated DNA removal – a Zymo-Spin IIIC Column eliminates genomic DNA before RNA capture.
- Small RNA recovery – total RNA is isolated including small RNA species.
- Concentrated eluate – the Zymo-Spin IC Column allows elution in a small volume of DNase/RNase-Free Water.
