Many protocols that default to a 15 mL conical only ever fill a few milliliters, and 5 mL MacroTube® tubes let you right-size those samples while saving plastic, freezer space and shipping volume. They share the diameter of a standard 15 mL tube, so they drop into existing centrifuge cavities with adapters, and they are short enough for ordinary 1 mL and 5 mL pipette tips to reach the conical bottom without contaminating the pipettor shaft.
