Product Description
Recovering plasmids from yeast no longer has to involve glass beads or phenol. This Zymo Research miniprep adapts the familiar bacterial alkaline lysis approach to fungal cells, giving you a simple, dependable way to rescue plasmids from colonies, plate patches or liquid cultures, including low-copy and otherwise stubborn constructs.
This listing is for catalog number D2001: Zymoprep Yeast Plasmid Miniprep I, 100 Preps. Zymolyase in the first solution digests the yeast cell wall, followed by alkaline lysis and neutralization, then alcohol precipitation to collect the plasmid. All required reagents are included for S. cerevisiae, C. albicans, S. pombe and other fungi whose walls respond to yeast lytic enzyme. The recovered DNA can go straight into E. coli transformation, PCR or Southern blotting. LIGHT LABS ships genuine Zymo Research products with knowledgeable support from our Englewood, Colorado team.
Key Features
- No beads or phenol – Enzymatic cell wall digestion replaces mechanical disruption and hazardous solvents.
- Flexible starting material – Works with colonies, patches on plates or liquid cultures.
- Low-copy friendly – Well suited to low-copy and hard-to-isolate plasmids.
- Complete reagent set – Includes everything needed for plasmid isolation from susceptible fungi.
- Downstream ready – DNA can be used directly for E. coli transformation, PCR and Southern blots.
