Unlike conventional stabilization reagents that protect either DNA or RNA but not both, DNA/RNA Shield™ simultaneously preserves the genetic integrity and gene expression profiles of both DNA and RNA in any biological sample type — making it the most versatile nucleic acid preservation solution available.
DNA/RNA Shield™ completely inactivates all classes of infectious agents including viruses (including Ebola, Influenza A, and SARS-CoV-2), bacteria, fungi, and parasites at the time of collection — rendering samples safe for handling, shipping, and storage without biosafety concerns. Critically, unlike competing stabilization reagents such as RNAlater® which must be removed before downstream processing, DNA/RNA Shield™ requires no reagent removal prior to nucleic acid purification — samples are simply processed directly with Zymo Research or other commercially available purification kits. Samples are stable indefinitely when frozen, for a minimum of 30 days at ambient temperature (up to 30°C), and for up to 7 days at elevated temperatures (>35°C).
