The R2146 is the magnetic bead format of the Quick-DNA/RNA™ Pathogen line — designed specifically for the unique challenges of pathogen nucleic acid isolation from complex, inhibitor-rich biological matrices including arthropod vectors (mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, sand flies), mammalian and avian tissues, and biological fluids — delivering simultaneous high-quality pathogen DNA and RNA from the same sample in a single workflow.
The Quick-DNA/RNA™ Pathogen MagBead Kit is engineered to address the most demanding challenges in vector-borne disease research and surveillance: efficiently lysing tough-to-lyse arthropod vectors and tissue samples that contain PCR inhibitors (chitin, heme, polyphenols), safely inactivating BSL-2 and BSL-3 pathogens at the point of collection, and simultaneously recovering both DNA and RNA from viruses, bacteria, and protozoa in a single purification. The kit's Pathogen DNA/RNA Buffer — containing Proteinase K and optimized guanidinium chemistry — simultaneously lyses vector/tissue matrices, inactivates nucleases and infectious agents, and prepares the lysate for magnetic bead capture. ZymoBIOMICS™ MagBinding Beads bind pathogen nucleic acids from the clarified lysate, which are then washed and eluted in a standard magnetic stand workflow compatible with liquid handling automation.
DNA/RNA Shield™ (2 x 250 mL) is included for safe sample collection, pathogen inactivation at the point of capture, and ambient temperature transport — enabling field collection of vectors and tissue samples without cold chain requirements.
