The QuEChERS method is a widely adopted sample preparation technique for the extraction of pesticide residues, mycotoxins, and other analytes from fruits, vegetables, grains, cannabis, and other complex food and agricultural matrices. The method requires a vigorous, high-energy extraction step in which the sample is combined with extraction solvent (typically acetonitrile) and salts in a 50 mL centrifuge tube, then shaken vigorously — historically performed by hand, which is physically demanding, time-consuming, poorly reproducible between operators, and limits throughput to the number of tubes an operator can shake manually at one time. The BenchMixer™ XLQ replaces this manual shaking step entirely — loading up to 7 x 50 mL extraction tubes in the horizontal rack and delivering precisely controlled, reproducible vigorous vortexing simultaneously across all tubes for the specified duration.
The BV1010-TST creates a true vortex in vertical sample racks by holding the top of the tube stationary while the bottom rotates in a 3.6mm orbit — a unique and mechanically important feature for the vertical-tube cleanup steps of the QuEChERS workflow. The included QuEChERS rack starter kit covers all three primary tube sizes in the QuEChERS workflow: 7 x 50 mL horizontal (extraction step), 50 x 15 mL vertical (dispersive SPE cleanup step), and 50 x 1.5/2.0 mL vertical (aliquot transfer step).
