The B3D1308 is the preferred choice for labs with higher gel and blot throughput that need the superior 3D gyratory mixing of a nutating platform for their Western blot, Southern blot, gel staining/destaining, and hybridization workflows on a larger work surface.
Like the Mini BlotBoy™, the B3D1308 is modeled directly after Benchmark Scientific's popular BioMixer™ series of nutating shakers — bringing the same tri-directional 3D gyratory motion to the blot-specific application space with application-specific speed (12 RPM) and tilt (±8°) settings that have been precisely optimized for gentle, thorough, foam-free coverage of flat gel trays, blot boxes, and staining containers. The 3D gyratory motion provides superior lateral fluid distribution across the full surface area of flat vessels vs. the simple side-to-side wave of a 2D platform rocker — ensuring more uniform reagent coverage, more even staining, and more complete wash steps across the entire blot or gel surface.
The 12" x 12" autoclavable flat mat platform of the B3D1308 provides 144 square inches of usable rocking work surface — 80% more than the Mini BlotBoy™ (78.75 sq in) — making it the preferred format for labs running multiple blot containers or larger gel staining trays simultaneously.
