The Mini BlotBoy™ is modeled directly after the popular BioMixer™ series of nutating shakers and brings the same 3D gyratory motion principle to the blot-specific application space with an optimized flat mat platform and gel-staining-optimized speed and tilt settings.
The key distinction between the Mini BlotBoy™ (B3D1008) and the Mini BioMixer™ (B3D1020) is the application focus and included mat. The BioMixer™ is optimized for blood and centrifuge tube mixing — coming with a dimpled mat and running at 24 RPM with ±20° tilt for vigorous tube agitation. The Mini BlotBoy™ is optimized for gel blotting, washing, and staining — coming with a flat autoclavable mat at a gentler 12 RPM and ±8° tilt specifically selected to produce the gentle, thorough, foam-free gyratory wave motion required for uniform reagent coverage across gel trays, blot boxes, and other flat vessels. The 3D gyratory motion provides superior lateral fluid distribution across the entire flat vessel surface vs. the simple side-to-side wave of a 2D rocker — ensuring more uniform, complete antibody coverage and more even gel staining.
The compact 10.5" x 7.5" footprint conserves valuable bench space — providing 24% more platform work surface than traditional nutating mixers of the same physical footprint.
