LIGHT LABS is proud to offer the Benchmark Scientific MultiTherm™ Heating & Cooling Shaker (Cat # H5000-HC). This versatile benchtop thermal shaker combines precise heating and cooling with variable-speed vortex mixing in one compact instrument. It cools to 20°C below ambient and heats up to 100°C, with speeds from 200 to 1500 RPM. One MultiTherm™ can take the place of a dry bath, a heat block, a cooling block, and a vortex mixer on your bench. It handles everything from enzymatic digestions and DNA/RNA extractions to sample denaturation and cold incubations.
The MultiTherm™ accepts a wide range of interchangeable blocks for tubes from 0.2 mL to 50 mL, PCR plates, standard and deep-well microplates, and HPLC vials. Blocks change in seconds. Each block has precision-contoured wells for close, uniform thermal contact with every tube. Temperature is set in 0.1°C increments with ±1.0°C accuracy. The unit heats at 5.0°C per minute and cools at 2.5°C per minute, so it reaches setpoint quickly. A 3 mm orbit and 200–1500 RPM range in 10 RPM increments give you anything from gentle mixing to vigorous vortexing. You can also switch shaking off for static heating or cooling.
The LCD display shows set and actual values for speed, time, and temperature side by side. The timer runs from 1 minute to 99 hours 59 minutes or continuously. The H5000-HC adds a sequence link function, available only on the heating and cooling model, that links and repeats programs for automated multi-step protocols such as heat denaturation followed by rapid cooling. Integral over-temperature control protects your samples. The unit is 115V with a 2-year warranty. Blocks are sold separately, and at least one block is required for operation.
