Penicillin G (Penicillin G potassium salt) is a β-lactam antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting peptidoglycan synthesis — disrupting the structural integrity of the bacterial cell wall, particularly effective against Gram-positive organisms such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species. Streptomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that kills bacteria by irreversibly binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting protein synthesis — effective against a broad range of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms including many that are penicillin-resistant.
