LIGHT LABS is proud to offer the Zymo Research Direct-zol™-96 RNA Kit (Cat # R2054) — the standard 2 x 96 prep format of Zymo Research's high-throughput 96-well plate-based Direct-zol RNA purification system, enabling rapid, unbiased purification of high-quality total RNA including small RNAs (≥17 nt) directly from samples in TRI Reagent® or TRIzol® — without phase separation, chloroform extraction, or precipitation steps — across 96 samples simultaneously in approximately 30 minutes per 2-plate run.
The Direct-zol™-96 RNA Kit brings all the powerful advantages of the Direct-zol™ spin-column technology (R2070/R2073) to the high-throughput 96-well plate format — making it the ideal solution for labs processing large numbers of TRI Reagent®-preserved samples that need the speed and consistency of 96-well plate processing without sacrificing the RNA quality or miRNA recovery accuracy of the Direct-zol™ chemistry. The streamlined workflow is elegantly simple: apply a sample in TRI Reagent® directly to the Zymo-Spin™ I-96 Plate, then bind, wash, and elute — all by centrifugation with a microplate centrifuge. The entire procedure for 2 plates (192 samples) typically takes approximately 30 minutes — a dramatic throughput improvement over individual spin-column processing.
A critical scientific advantage of the Direct-zol™-96 method vs. conventional phase separation is its unbiased miRNA recovery. Phase separation in TRIzol® processing selectively enriches for certain miRNA species, introducing significant bias into small RNA profiling. Because Direct-zol™-96 bypasses phase separation entirely, all RNA species ≥17 nt are recovered uniformly — eliminating this bias for accurate miRNA-seq and small RNA profiling. The extraction method also inactivates viruses and other infectious agents — enabling safe high-throughput processing of BSL-2 samples.
