The R2070 delivers the same outstanding Direct-zol™ performance as the larger R2073 format in a convenient 50-prep size — perfect for routine RNA isolation workflows, smaller labs, or as a trial before committing to the higher-volume 200-prep format.
The Direct-zol™ RNA MiniPrep Plus kit eliminates the most time-consuming, technically demanding steps of conventional TRIzol® RNA extraction — phase separation, chloroform extraction, and isopropanol precipitation — allowing researchers to apply a TRI Reagent®-preserved sample directly to the Zymo-Spin™ IIICG Capped Column and complete the entire RNA purification procedure in approximately 7 minutes. The result is high-purity total RNA (A260/A280 >1.8, A260/A230 >1.8) including small RNAs ≥17 nucleotides — ready for RT-PCR, transcriptomics, microarray, sequencing, and other sensitive downstream applications.
A critical scientific advantage of the Direct-zol™ method is its unbiased recovery of small RNAs including miRNA. Conventional phase separation during TRIzol® extraction selectively enriches for certain miRNA species — introducing significant bias into small RNA and miRNA profiling experiments. Because the Direct-zol™ method bypasses phase separation entirely, all RNA species ≥17 nucleotides are recovered uniformly — eliminating this bias and making it the method of choice for accurate miRNA and small RNA analysis. DNase I is included for optional on-column DNA digestion to produce strictly DNA-free RNA.
