The Quick-RNA™ Viral Kit delivers high-quality viral RNA in as little as 5 minutes — without the use of organic denaturants or proteases that can complicate downstream applications and require additional cleanup steps — making it the fastest and simplest viral RNA isolation method available for clinical research, infectious disease diagnostics, and surveillance applications.
The Quick-RNA™ Viral Kit is specifically engineered to address the unique challenges of viral RNA isolation from biological fluids: low copy number viral targets present against a complex background of host RNA and proteins, sample matrices that can inhibit downstream RT-qPCR reactions, and the need for maximum sensitivity at the lowest possible elution volume for detection of low-titer viral samples. Zymo Research's proprietary Viral RNA Buffer chemistry lyses viral particles efficiently from all sample types — including those with complex matrices — while the Zymo-Spin™ IC Column selectively captures viral RNA and washes away inhibitors in a streamlined bind-wash-elute procedure. The minimum ≥6 µL elution volume is the smallest available in a standard spin-column viral RNA kit — concentrating viral RNA to the highest possible level for maximum RT-qPCR sensitivity.
DNA/RNA Shield™ (2X concentrate) is included — enabling safe sample collection, inactivation of BSL-2 and BSL-3 pathogens at the point of collection, and ambient temperature transport and storage of samples before processing.
