The ZymoBIOMICS™ DNA Microprep Kit is equipped with Zymo Research's innovative dual-size BashingBead™ Lysis Tubes (0.1 & 0.5 mm) — containing ultra-high-density glass beads specifically engineered to achieve thorough, unbiased mechanical disruption of even the toughest microbial cell walls, including Gram-positive bacteria, fungal cells, endospores, protozoans, algae, and viruses. Unlike enzyme-only or heat-based lysis methods that preferentially lyse easily disrupted organisms and introduce significant bias into microbiome profiles, BashingBead™ lysis ensures uniform disruption of all microbes in the sample — faithfully representing the true microbial community composition.
A critical distinguishing feature of the D4301 is Zymo Research's proprietary OneStep PCR Inhibitor Removal technology — the Zymo-Spin™ II-µHRC filter that simultaneously purifies DNA and eliminates potent PCR inhibitors (including humic acids, polyphenols, and other environmental inhibitors) in a single filtration step, without a separate inhibitor removal column or kit.
