Product Description
The CELLTREAT® 229196 is a 96-well tissue culture treated flat-bottom plate with lid — sterile, clear polystyrene, individually packaged, and built with the same premium design features as the full CELLTREAT multi-well plate family including the single-direction raised-rim nesting lid, alpha-numeric well identification, stacking lid feature, and lot number and expiration date printed on every plate. Tissue culture treated surface improves cell adhesion. Plates are labeled with alpha-numeric markings for easy identification of individual wells. Each well has a raised rim which nests into the rings on the single direction lid to reduce evaporation and limit the risk of cross contamination. Lids have a stacking feature for added stability when handling tall stacks of plates. 0.33cm² growth area per well. Maximum well volume: 0.39mL. Working volume: 0.075–0.20mL. RNase-free, DNase-free, and non-pyrogenic. 100 plates per case, individually packaged.
TC-Treated Surface — Consistent, Uniform Cell Attachment Across All 96 Wells The tissue culture treatment of the 229196 creates a negatively charged hydrophilic surface across the flat bottom of every well — promoting consistent attachment and spreading of anchorage-dependent cells across all 96 wells simultaneously. The uniformity of the TC treatment process is tightly controlled well-to-well — ensuring equivalent cell attachment kinetics and growth rates across every position on the plate. Well-to-well consistency is especially critical in 96-well format where comparative data across multiple conditions, doses, or time points is read simultaneously in a plate reader, and any variation in attachment or growth surface quality introduces systematic error into the dataset.
Optically Clear Polystyrene — Direct Microscopic Observation and Plate Reader Compatible The clear polystyrene construction allows direct observation of cell morphology, confluency, and health under an inverted microscope and full compatibility with all standard microplate readers for absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence detection. The flat-bottom well geometry provides a uniform focal plane across the entire well bottom — ensuring consistent microscopic imaging and accurate optical measurements throughout the well area. The 229196 is compatible with all standard ANSI/SBS footprint microplate readers and imaging systems.
Single-Direction Lid with Raised Rim Nesting Rings — Reduced Evaporation and Cross-Contamination Each well has a raised rim which nests into the rings on the single direction lid to reduce evaporation and limit the risk of cross contamination. The raised rim on each well creates a physical registration interface with the rings on the single-direction lid — forming a well-specific micro-seal around every well opening that significantly reduces evaporation from individual wells and limits aerosol cross-contamination between adjacent wells during routine plate handling. The single-direction lid design ensures only one correct orientation — preventing mis-orientation and maintaining the precise well-to-lid ring alignment required for the anti-evaporation and anti-contamination features to function correctly. This is a critical advantage in 96-well format where evaporation-driven well-to-well variability — particularly the "edge effect" in outer wells — is one of the most common sources of assay noise.
Alpha-Numeric Well Markings — A1 Through H12 on Plate and Lid Every 229196 plate is molded with clear alpha-numeric well labels (A through H rows, 1 through 12 columns) on both the plate base and the lid — providing instant well identification during pipetting, imaging, and data recording. The standard A1–H12 grid format is universally compatible with plate reader software, liquid handling robot well addressing, and imaging system coordinate systems — eliminating transcription errors from manual well counting or external reference grids.
Stacking Lid Feature — Stability for Multi-Plate Incubator Stacks Lids have a stacking feature for added stability when handling tall stacks of plates. The molded stacking feature provides positive mechanical registration between stacked plates — preventing sliding, tipping, and plate separation during incubation and transport. In 96-well format where plates are frequently stacked 5–10 high in the incubator, the stacking feature is essential for preventing costly culture disruption from collapsed plate stacks.
0.33cm² Per Well — Standard 96-Well Flat-Bottom Cell Culture Format Each well of the 229196 provides 0.33cm² of growth area — the standard surface area for 96-well flat-bottom tissue culture plates. The maximum well volume of 0.39mL and the recommended working volume of 0.075–0.20mL are optimized for the most common 96-well cell culture, cytotoxicity, and cell-based assay protocols. Uniform well volume across all 96 positions ensures equal growth surface area in every well — critical for quantitative assays where cell number directly determines signal magnitude.
RNase-Free, DNase-Free, Non-Pyrogenic Manufactured from medical grade virgin polystyrene. RNase/DNase Free and Non-pyrogenic. The 229196 is manufactured from medical grade virgin polystyrene and certified free of RNase, DNase, and pyrogens — qualifying it for molecular biology applications including RNA extraction from cell cultures, DNA-based assays, gene expression studies, and transfection workflows where nuclease contamination from the plate could compromise nucleic acid integrity.
Individually Packaged — Sterility Assurance and Physical Protection The 229196 is individually packaged — providing sterility assurance for every plate until the moment of use and physical protection during shipping and handling. All multiple well plates are packaged sterile by gamma irradiation. Shelf life: 36 months. A bulk packaging option (5 plates per sleeve) is available as part number 229197 for high-volume users who prefer the efficiency of sleeve packaging.
