Product Description
The CELLTREAT® 229705 is a complete 150mL sterile vacuum filter system — bottle top filter with upgraded 0.22µm PES membrane, 150mL solution bottle, and HDPE screw cap — all in one ready-to-use sterile package for sterile filtration of small volumes of cell culture media, buffers, and biological solutions. New! Upgraded 0.22µm PES filter membranes now filter up to 43% faster. The 0.22µm polyethersulfone (PES) membrane is the first choice for sterile filtration of cell culture media — removing bacteria, mycoplasma, and other microorganisms ≥0.22µm while providing high flow rate and low protein binding for maximum sample recovery. Complete vacuum filtration systems include a polystyrene bottletop filter and solution bottle with high-density polyethylene screw-on cap. Angled hose barb adapter fits 6-, 9-, and 12-mm ID tubing and prevents filter from tipping. Filter systems are supplied sterile (gamma irradiated); packaged individually. RNase-free, DNase-free, and non-pyrogenic. Shelf life: 36 months. 12 filter systems per case.
229705 vs. 229701 — Choosing the Right Pore Size for 150mL Filtration: The 229705 and 229701 are identical in construction, volume, and design — the pore size is the sole and critical differentiator:
| 229705 | 229701 | |
|---|---|---|
| Volume | 150mL | 150mL |
| Pore Size | 0.22µm | 0.45µm |
| Sterile Filtration | ✅ Yes — removes bacteria and mycoplasma | ❌ No — clarification only |
| Upgraded Membrane | ✅ Yes — 43% faster | Standard |
| Flow Rate | Moderate | Higher (larger pore) |
| Best For | Sterile media and buffer preparation | HPLC prep, pre-filtration, clarification |
| Membrane Dia. | 50mm | 50mm |
| Case Qty | 12 | 12 |
Upgraded 0.22µm PES Membrane — 43% Faster Sterile Filtration Upgraded 0.22µm PES filter membranes now filter up to 43% faster. The upgraded membrane formulation of the 229705 delivers meaningfully faster sterile filtration than previous-generation 0.22µm membranes — reducing the time required to filter a full 150mL volume of cell culture media, serum-containing solutions, or viscous biological fluids while maintaining the complete bacterial and mycoplasma retention required for sterile filtration assurance.
0.22µm PES — Sterile Filtration Standard for Cell Culture 0.22µm PES membrane is the first choice for sterile filtration of cell culture media. The 0.22µm pore size removes bacteria, mycoplasma, and other microorganisms ≥0.22µm while passing proteins, growth factors, vitamins, and other critical media components. The hydrophilic PES membrane wets instantly on contact with aqueous solutions and provides low protein binding — minimizing loss of serum proteins, cytokines, enzymes, and growth factors during sterile filtration.
150mL Format — Right-Sized for Small-Volume Sterile Filtration The 150mL format of the 229705 is designed for small-volume sterile filtration workflows — including preparation of small batches of supplemented media, sterile filtration of specialized reagents and supplements, and any application where a larger filter system would result in significant wasted capacity. For labs running small-scale experiments or requiring frequent preparation of small volumes of freshly filtered sterile solutions, the 229705 provides the right capacity without the cost of a 500mL or 1000mL filter unit.
Hydrophilic PES Membrane — Low Protein Binding for Maximum Sample Recovery Polyethersulfone (PES) membrane is designed for high flow rate with low binding. The PES membrane's inherently hydrophilic, low protein binding surface minimizes loss of critical media components during sterile filtration — essential for serum-containing media, growth factor-supplemented basal media, and other protein-rich biological solutions where membrane retention of biologically active components would affect downstream cell culture performance.
Easy-to-Read Molded Graduations and Bold Pore Size Identification Easy-to-read molded graduations on bottle top filter. Housings feature boldly printed membrane material and pore size for easy identification. The 0.22µm pore size is boldly printed on the filter housing — critical in labs where both 229705 (0.22µm) and 229701 (0.45µm) 150mL filters are stocked together.
Angled Hose Barb Adapter, Curved Bottle Design, and Improved Filter Support Angled hose barb adapter fits three size hose diameters and prevents the filter from tipping. Curved bottle design for easy handling. Improved filter support provides faster flow rates. The angled barb accommodates 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm ID vacuum tubing without adapters, prevents tipping during filtration, and the improved support grid sustains high flow rates throughout the complete 150mL volume.
Lot Number and Expiration Date on Every Bottle Top Printed lot number and expiration date on every bottle top. Full lot traceability for regulated cell culture environments and GMP documentation requirements.
